Transforming an ambitious architectural vision into a reality earned this project recognition at the Master Electricians Excellence Awards in 2022 with a Bronze Award. The sprawling 2400sqm rural estate, designed by Hulena Architects and built by PSL Construction, presented practical challenges that demanded innovative solutions and meticulous attention to detail.

The clients envisioned a luxury family compound that would serve multiple generations, complete with helicopter access. What began as a standard residential project evolved into something far more complex, requiring commercial-grade infrastructure wrapped within a sophisticated family home.

Good Electrical’s four-year journey with this project showcased our team’s ability to adapt and problem-solve. When initial power calculations proved insufficient for the evolving design, Martin and the team recalculated maximum demand requirements mid-construction. The original 100kVA transformer was replaced with a 300kVA unit to handle the home’s ultimate 315-amp per phase requirement – a testament to forward-thinking electrical house wiring.

The residential electrical design incorporated extraordinary features rarely seen outside commercial applications. A commercial backup generator system required collaboration with Trans Diesel to ensure seamless integration with the main switchboard. Even the construction process demanded innovation – Good Electrical wired a tower crane on-site and provided creative solutions like suggesting an eighth water tank to house the plant room, maintaining the estate’s aesthetic integrity.

Inlight’s architectural lighting plan brought the home’s dramatic spaces to life through precision installation. Trimless downlights were fitted flush with in-situ concrete ceilings, while LED strip outdoor lighting was seamlessly integrated into grass bank steps and hand-crafted oak spiral staircases. Every circuit connected back to DALI-controlled automation panels, creating a sophisticated lighting ecosystem across 10 distribution boards.

The finished estate represents the pinnacle of luxury home electrical systems, featuring underfloor heating throughout, automated blinds and curtains, electric blackout windows, and a hydraulic helicopter hangar door. The project’s success culminated in PSL Construction winning four awards, including Regional Supreme House of the Year 2020.
